Christmas Gift Ideas

Well, it's been a long time since I have posted. I've been unwell for about a month, not Covid, not RSV, maybe a sinus infection. So I haven't had the desire to do any stamping or crafting. Christmas cards won't be going out this year except to my son and daughter and her family. I sent my three grandsons each their own card and wouldn't you know, the most tenderhearted of the three didn't not get his card in the mail with the others. It finally showed up two days later, thankfully. It had his Christmas present in it.

Yesterday I had an idea for my son-in-law. He's an avid woodworker and makes beautiful items, bowls, lamps, pens and more. He's a software engineer so I'm guessing going in to his wood shop is a reprieve. Last year he made me an extra dowel for my Krumkake machine.

The stamp is a retired set that I bought and hadn't had a chance to work with, it's called Vintage Tools and was in the 2022 Jan - June Mini. I bought it with him in mind. I had some CD case calendars that I decided to repurpose.

I found some retired wood grain paper and then stamped the sentiment. I then embossed it with a wood grain embossing folder. I stamp the planer on a scrap of wood grain paper, as well as the chisel. I also stamped the chisel blade on silver foil with Stazon and fussy cut all the items out. The clamp is stamped on a scrap of Gray Granite and colored in with the lightest Smokey Slate Blender pen. I had some rivets in my stash and put those on with my Crop-a-dile. Sorry that most of this is retired items. But you can still find the Crop-a-dile and rivets in craft stores.

I had a friend over today and he's a handyman and a dear friend. I showed him the calendar and he thought it was pretty cool. He advised me where the wood shavings should come out. So that was grateful for his input.

My daughter is also getting one of my mini cd case calendars.

I made 50 of these intending so sell some of them at a craft fair, which didn't happen. I have about 6 left and if they don't sell by the 15th they will be donated along with other craft items.

Both of them are avid readers so they are also getting a magnetic bookmark.

I used the Build It dies and Nailed it stamp set for his, with the background stamped tone on tone and the dies are cut out of foil.

I stamped the In the Moment stamp on white and punched it with the 2" circle punch and the Decorative Circle Punch #159174. For the In The Moment image tried using my blends but they were a little too vivid for me, so I switched over to my color pencils and used the Blender Pen, to blend the colors. It gave it a softer look. The paper is Coastal Cabana. She loves to read and they got a dog last Easter and he is their constant companion, especially when she reads.

I thought I should mention that I will be closing my online store,January 1. It's not getting any traffic, so no since paying for the website. I will be switching back over to my www://cottagelanestamper.blogspot.com unless I can swith my domain to that website.

Thank you for stopping in. Hope you have a

Merry Christmas!

Sharon
