August Class Cards: Wheels, Scraps & Fun Fold

This months card class featured "Fun On Wheels", Nature's Prints and how to make use of your cherished DSP scraps.

Fun On Wheels is a great stamp set for those who like to bike, ride scooters or skateboards. I bought this set because I have 3 grandsons who like to do all three, and, with the sentiments, I thought it might make a great graduation card for my oldest grandson next year.

I used some retired DSP from the current 2023-2024 Country Bouquet package that had bicycles, so I thought I would replicate the bike. I layered the bike on Scalloped Contours die cut rectangle.

This second card is a great way to use up scraps and tidbits of your beloved DSP (Designer Series Paper) . I used one of my favorite retired DSPs from the last catalog, Hand Penned.

The background layer of the card and the squares is Soft Seafoam. The cardstock squares are 1-3/4: square. The DSP squares are 1-1/2" square. I love the Fern 3D embossing folder for the background of this card. The leafy branch is from Lighting The Way. We stamped it on Basic White cardstock, then adhered that to Foam Adhesive sheets and die cut it, to give it some dimension.

It's a simple card but I think very beautiful. The ink we used for the leaf branch is So Succulent, which is retired.

The third card we made is a fun fold. I'm not sure what it's called but it's pretty quick and easy to make. When I was editing the photos, I got to wonder what cardstock I used, because it looks taupe, but in reality it's Gray Granite, which does have a brown tint to it.

Here are some photos to help you make it.

Cardstock:

4-1/2" x 7", scored at 1-1/2"

One piece 4-1/4" x 1-1/4"

One piece 4-1/4" x 1-1/2"

DSP:

Two pieces 4" x 1-1/4"

One piece: 4" x 1-1/8"

Attach a piece of Tear & Tape to the top and bottom of the 4" x 1-1/4" piece. Attach one end to the flap on the top (1-1/2" score line makes the flap). Then attach the bottom of this strip to the other strip that is 4-1/4" x 1-1/2"

We used Nature's prints to stamp the inside of the card in Old Olive. To make it easier to adhere the die cuts to the card we used the Adhesive Strips, this make it so much easier. First stamp your image, then attach the cardstock to the adhesive sheet and die cut it. Once you start using this you'll hardly ever go back to gluing your delicate pieces.

The DSP that was used was retired from the January to June 2023 Mini catalog, that coordinated with Nature's Prints.

All of these are basic designs that you could use with whatever stamp sets, dies and DSP that you have in your stash.

I hope you enjoyed these projects and will Like, Share & Subscribe!
